Work on the Ocean Ave. Seawall continues

The City of Newport Departments of Utilities and Public Services announce the following utility and road construction starting the week of December 10th, 2012.

John Roccio Corp. will be continuing the improvements of the sanitary sewer infrastructure on Ruggles Ave, Old Fort Rd, and Palmer St.

Biszko Contracting Corp. will be replacing the water main in Bliss Mine Road.

The RIDOT will continue work on the Ocean Avenue seawall between Brenton Point and Harrison Avenue. At this stage in construction, this section of Ocean Avenue WILL BE CLOSED and a daily detour will be in effect during working hours through the Brenton Point parking lot road and utilizing Castle Hill Avenue and Harrison Avenue. (please visit the City website for a map of the detour)

During construction, be advised that traffic may be delayed at times and parking will be restricted between the hours of 7 AM and 4 PM from Monday through Friday.

The Clean City Program and Waste Management ask for your patience during construction, as Waste management may have access issues during this time which might result in minor delays in collection. Please put your trash, recycling and yard waste out as you normally do and leave it out until it is collected. Questions or concerns on trash collection can be directed to the Clean City program at 845-5613.
