Fall Recycling Day, will be held on Saturday, October 20 from 9am-1pm at Easton’s Beach in the east parking lot.
There, any area resident will be able to recycle a wide variety of items like scrap metal (new this event!), electronic waste, rigid plastics, Styrofoam, clothing & household items for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ocean State, books for Discover Books, bikes for The Met School, cooking oil and plastic bags, and also shred sensitive documents.
Newport residents only may exchange a broken recycling bin for a new bin, free of charge, or purchase a new set for $5, or purchase a compost bin for $45. Custom House Coffee will also provide free coffee to event goers (reusable mugs encouraged!). There will be no entry into the event until its start time of 9am. Absolutely no hazardous waste will be accepted. This event is sponsored by the City of Newport’s Clean City Program, Waste Management, The East Bay Met School, the Preservation Society of Newport County, the Newport Energy & Environment Commission, Boy Scouts of America, Troop 3, Newport, and Custom House Coffee.
