Volunteers Needed to Plant Daffodils

Volunteers are needed to assist with the planting ~18,000 bulbs daffodils on the Cliff Walk to the north of Shepard Ave on Friday October 26th beginning at 8am. This is the eight year of the Newport Daffodil Projects campaign to beautify Newport by creating large naturalized meadows of yellow daffodils. The project is a partnership of community volunteers, the City of Newport, the Newport Preservation Society, Salve Regina University and the Newport Restoration Foundation. The plantings are made possible by the generous support of a private donor. Volunteers are asked to bring gloves and hand trowels. Please contact the Newport Buildings & Grounds Supervisor, Scott Wheeler, at 845-5802 or swheeler@cityofnewport.com with any questions.
